Belkin N300 Wall-Mount WiFi Range Extender
Wireless dead spots are simply annoying. If you own a laptop or a mobile device that can connect to the internet via a WiFi connection, you need WiFi coverage in every room of your home-- not just in one limited area.
Like Belkin’s popular N600 WiFi range extender, the N300 helps you expand your WiFi coverage in your home. The N300 is not as powerful as the N600, but it’s also smaller and a little bit cheaper. If all you need to do is give your router a small boost, the N300 could be just the type of device you’ve been looking for.
Simple installation — All you need to complete the installation job is your WiFi network password.
You can use it with legacy routers — Still using a legacy “G” type router? No worries. This extender is compatible with both N and G router types.
Up-to-date security — 256-bit WPA2 encryption is nearly impossible to crack.
Zippy 300 Mbps data transfers — This device does not speed up your base internet connection speed. If you want to transfer files on your local network or stream media from one device to another, however, you can do so at a rate of 300 Mbps.
It won’t block your power outlet — This extender is about the same size as a plug-in air freshener. It only takes up one plug on a standard electrical wall outlet, not both of them.
Our Rating 4.5/5
This wall-mount WiFi extender from Belkin isn’t fancy, but it gets the job done. The installation is easy. Also, the N300’s 256 WPA2 security protocol will prevent hackers from breaking into your network.
Belkin’s technical support is a bit sketchy. The upshot is that you probably won’t need to use their help hotline because the N300 is actually very easy to use.
Best Suited For
Casual internet users.
Not So Good For
Power users. Do you host LAN parties, steam video from your computer to your TV or regularly transfer large files from one device to another? If so, you may want to go with the N300’s more powerful counterpart, the N600.
Belkin’s N300 is cheap, small and doesn’t get in the way. At 300 Gbps, it is still quite fast-- but not as strong as the N600.
